For last decades, the phonetical relation between voice change and throat infection especially tonsillar problem has been studied, but still have various interesting point for further study on this subject with the lack of papers especially for the voice influence follwing tonsillectomy.
Occasionally, many people who have to use their voice mainly such as a vocalist have used to hesitate to have removal surgery of the inflammable tonsil instead of good surgical indication because of a big fear of voice change following tonsillectomy as they belived.
On this occasion, the authors wish to carry the phonetical survey on the voice influence following tonsillectomy for 13 cases as a primary report of the survey. A day prior to the surgery, gall cases were carried out routine physical examination and voice range recording with tape recorder. And two weeks after the surgery, the time expecting the complete healing of the operated wound, the secondary voice range recording was done in the same way, and comparison between both voice range were detected.
On the conclusion, the authors suspected that avoidance of injuries to surrounding tissue of the palatine tonsil, throughout the surgery especially to the tonsillar pillars and restoration of the physical function of the glosso-palatine and pharyngo-palatine muscles in possible way, would keeps the constant voice range and gives good voice resonance as the condition before the surgery.
